Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome back to a new school year at Westheights Public School! We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as the  and to extend an invitation for open communication between the school and yourselves.

The role of the Resource Teacher includes collaboration with classroom teachers to program for students with various special needs. The support we provide for these students is sometimes documented through the development of an Individual Education Plan. As well, we support some students who may benefit from participation in small groups which function outside of the regular classroom program like Corrective Reading.

We look forward to working with you to address your child’s academic needs within a framework that integrates his/her social and emotional well-being. We would like to hear from you about how you see your child’s strengths, needs and interests. To that end, we have enclosed a form that provides you with an opportunity to share some thoughts about your child. We will use this information when creating your child’s Individual Education Plan, (IEP). The IEP will be coming home by Tuesday, October 20, 2015.

Should you wish to reach us at the school regarding any concerns or questions related to your child, (apart from completing the attached form), please call us at 519-744-3549 or email us and we will return your call or email as soon as possible.

We are anticipating an engaging and fulfilling year with your child.
