Gr. 8 Theatre Field Trip!
“When I saw you I fell in love and you smiled because you knew.”
The Gr. 8 staff at Westheights are pleased and excited to offer our students the opportunity to attend a theatre performance of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. The performance is on Monday May, 11 and will be presented at the George Weston Recital Hall (Toronto Centre for the Arts). The cost of busing and theatre ticket is $40 per student. We strongly encourage all Gr. 8 students to attend.
Curriculum Connections:
- to explain interpretations of increasingly complex or difficult texts
- to identify the point of view presented in texts
- to identify a range of elements of style and symbolism and explain how they communicate meaning
- to evaluate, using drama terminology, how effectively drama works and shared drama experiences use the elements of drama to engage the audience and communicate a theme or message
We will be travelling to Toronto by bus for the 11 AM performance. We’ll depart Westheights promptly at 8:30 am.
After the performance we’ll be making a lunch stop at the food court at Yorkdale Mall. Students should have money to purchase lunch there, or they may bring a lunch to eat (no peanuts, fish or eggs please!).
Our estimated time of arrival back at Westheights is not until 3:30-3:45 pm, so any students who would normally bus home should make arrangements to be picked up.
Please sign and return the attached form with payment no later than April 16. Cheques are payable to Westheights Public School. As this is a theatre performance, we must have our final numbers by the date above. There will be NO additional ticket requests or refunds after April 20.
Looking forward to a great day!
