January 11th, 2024
Hello Warrior Families,
The countdown is on… 56 days until the Westheights Festival of the Arts, on Thursday, March 7th, 2024.
Westheights School Council has teamed up with school staff to host a silent auction on the same day as the festival. We are working towards raising $10,000 much-needed funds for musical instrument repair and replacement. If we are fortunate enough to reach this goal, we also hope to expand on our greening project with John’s Nursery, bringing in 7-10 small trees and a selection of shrubs for our students to enjoy. The cost will be in the range of $5000-$7000. The auction will run for several hours before the Festival of the Arts, utilizing classrooms and hallway areas around the Music Room.
We are calling on all Westheights families to consider donating items to the auction, spreading the word about the event through social media, and attending the auction. Westheights students are asked to donate their time and talents to help with the event. All items must be new, good quality and/or a community experience.
Popular silent auction items include (but are not limited to):
-
Tickets to experiences (sporting, music, cultural events)
-
Collectibles and memorabilia
-
Tickets for services (oil changes, car washes, salons)
-
Gift cards to local establishments (restaurants, grocery stores)
-
Fine art (local pottery, paintings, jewelry )
-
Housewares
-
Sporting gear
-
Any other suggestions that would be popular for our families and community
Please reach out to local businesses or consider sharing your own business or trade skills as part of the auction. Closer to the date of the silent auction, we will provide a weekly update to you with items available for auction to build interest and excitement in supporting Westheights on March 7th.
Questions can be directed directly to our Guidance Counsellor, Mr. Brock Greenhalgh: brock_greenhalgh@wrdsb.ca
We thank you in advance for your support. We are so excited for our silent auction followed by an evening of Westheights music and art on March 7th.
